Linn Burial Grounds October 2002 In October 2002, I had the
opportunity to take a Genealogy Trip of a lifetime. I took 3 weeks off of
work and drove to Illinois and back. I drove through 18 states total and picked
up genealogy on the way. Some sites of America included driving
along the Oregon Trail and to make this trip so worth while for me, I was able
to set foot in the Linn Burial Grounds in Buckhorn Illinois. I felt so at
home when I arrived in Illinois. Our Linn Burial Grounds
(this is what is what the cemetery is referred to now) is in dire need of
restoration. According to the Schuylar/Brown Counties Cemetery Book there
are 33 burials there. The cemetery book missed one though; I found a
tombstone of a neighbor of Philip Linn and John McDannald, which is in better
and visible state than some tombstones of the late 1800s. The tombstone I
found is dated 1852, with the name of Michael Baker. Folks this is
our heritage, something we need to sit down and really think about helping
restore. The man, who owns the property where the Linn Burial Grounds are
located is Tom McNeff. Tom has given me a gentleman's handshake to
restore the cemetery. He let me know about another family cemetery on his
property that he also given permission to those folks to restore their family
cemetery. This is my personal and proposed goal to the family. I
feel better looking fence would be ideal In addition markers along with
the existing tombstones to acknowledge those buried there would be great
too. I took lots of pictures and will displaying them at the
reunion. Hope to see you there. Rusty Brown

Other Information:
I visited this Family grave site in October 2002. It has been a life long
goal of mine to be able to get back and actually set foot on the ground the my
ancestors once owned and where my family lived before heading out west to
Oregon. Upon viewing the cemetery, I felt it is of much importance to my family
to restore that cemetery. The plan is to make the proper agreements to have the
time to restore this Cemetery to one of one my family can be proud to have in
our heritage. The plan is to come back next year, 2004 to complete this
feat.

Drive Norcross, Georgia 30071 News about Lawn Mower Fund Raising
at Estacada Cemetery Maintenance district.
Dear Linn Family Jerry Griggs is the Maintenance man
for Odd fellows and P. E. Linn Pioneer Cemetery which are located together in
Estacada, when I spoke with Jerry about the Fundraising for a new lawnmower he
let me know they were only about half way to the goal. We need about
$3000.00 more to reach the goal. The current lawnmowers has exceed
the average lifespan of 15000 thousand hours of use. Jerry has spent
many hours doing major and minor repairs to keep Cemetery Lawn mower in good
working condition. This lawn mower is reaching the end of its lifecycle
and the County has budgeted $700.00 for maintenance for the year of 2003.
This is why the Estacada Cemetery Maintenance District is seeking donations for
a new lawnmower. As a family member I would like to urge all of the
P.E. Linn family members to make a personal donation to the Cemetery
District. I will be donating the cost of a Lawn mowing job for my yard as
a local teen would ask for. If all the active members of our family
donated about $20.00 this goal would quickly be reached. I Urge you
to send your Donations made out to: ESTACADA CEMETERY
DISTRICT PO Box 1390 Estacada, OR 97023 Sincerely Carrie
Wilcox President P.E. Linn Familes
